SMS Product Manager JD
We're looking for a Product Manager to own our SMS messaging portfolio end-to-end. This is a hybrid role that blends strategic product management with hands-on product ownership: you'll set the direction for our SMS products and APIs, and you'll also work day-to-day with engineering to ship them. You'll sit at the intersection of carriers, regulators, developers, and enterprise customers, turning a fast-moving and heavily regulated messaging landscape into products that are reliable, compliant, and profitable.
This role suits someone equally comfortable writing a business case for new features and capabilities in the platform and grooming a backlog of user stories for the next sprint.
What You'll Do
Product Strategy & Roadmap
Own the vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for the SMS product line (A2P messaging, SMS APIs, sender ID and number provisioning, delivery receipts, two-way messaging, and related capabilities).
Track the competitive landscape and translate market gaps into differentiated product opportunities.
Build business cases with clear ROI, factoring in per-message economics, carrier/termination costs, and margin.
Partner with commercial teams on pricing and packaging.
Own SMS-specific compliance and regulatory requirements as product concerns — 10DLC and toll-free verification (US), sender ID and DLT registration (India), TCPA, GDPR, and evolving global rules — and build them into the roadmap rather than treating them as afterthoughts.
Define and monitor success metrics: deliverability, throughput, latency, conversion, revenue, gross margin, and customer retention.
Product Ownership & Delivery
Own and prioritize the product backlog; write clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering.
Lead agile ceremonies (backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and serve as the primary point of contact for the development team on scope and requirements.
Make day-to-day trade-off decisions on scope, sequencing, and technical approach in partnership with engineering and architecture.
Coordinate releases, including internal enablement, documentation, and go-to-market readiness.
