    Job Overview:

A well-established NHS Older Adult Mental Health Service is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide specialist care for patients over 65 years old with mental health disorders such as dementia, late-onset schizophrenia, depression, and complex psychiatric conditions. The role involves both inpatient and community-based care, offering the opportunity to work in a collaborative MDT setting alongside geriatricians, psychologists, and social care professionals.

Additionally, you will provide clinical leadership within multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions, offer psychoeducation and support to carers and families, and act as a Responsible Clinician (RC) under the Mental Health Act, participating in tribunals and capacity assessments. Furthermore, you will supervise and mentor junior doctors and specialty trainees.

    • GMC registration with CCT in Old Age Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry with relevant experience.
    • Expertise in neurocognitive disorders, complex psychotropic medication management, and behavioral interventions.
    • Excellent ability to work with multi-agency teams including social services and dementia specialists.

    Benefits:

    • NHS pension scheme and enhanced sick leave.
    • Flexible working options, including remote consultations.
    • Opportunities for leadership development and research involvement.
