CNC Machine Operator
Location: York, PA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay: Starting at $23.00/hour + $3.00/hour night differential
Higher pay may be available depending on experience.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to set up and operate CNC equipment used to process structural steel components. The ideal candidate has structural steel fabrication experience, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to read shop drawings and work accurately with precision measuring tools.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Load and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
- Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
- Use tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision measuring tools to verify tolerances.
- Make basic programming edits and adjustments for different material sizes and thicknesses.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot CNC equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and shop safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
- 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
- Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
