Steel Fabrication Shop Foreman

Pay: Starting at $39.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3.00/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead second-shift fabrication operations. This hands-on leadership position oversees employees, equipment, materials, production schedules, quality, and deliveries while helping the shop operate safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support shop personnel throughout the second shift.
- Direct daily fabrication and production activities.
- Manage personnel, equipment, tools, and materials needed for shop operations.
- Maintain and update production and fabrication schedules.
- Coordinate deliveries and communicate product status, quality, and delivery information with other departments and facilities.
- Work with project management, logistics, purchasing, and other teams to support project schedules and on-time delivery.
- Establish and maintain standard fabrication procedures.
- Monitor finished work and maintain quality-control standards.
- Review shop processes and recommend ways to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Monitor equipment and building needs and coordinate maintenance when necessary.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels in coordination with the First Shift Foreman, operations management, and purchasing.
- Balance shop workload and communicate staffing or production concerns to management.
- Determine work hours and overtime needs based on delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Enforce workplace policies, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Provide fair, consistent leadership and participate in corrective or disciplinary actions when needed.
Qualifications
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of the structural steel fabrication industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize people, materials, schedules, and competing priorities in a fast-paced shop.
- Strong understanding of production, quality, and safety requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, vendors, and other departments.
- Must be available for 2nd shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed.
