    Job description

    Summary:

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual for our second shift Manufacturing Engineer/Production Supervisor. This position is a dual-role, responsibility for both leading a small production team as well as performing manufacturing engineering responsibilities for the shift. In this role, the supervisory responsibilities include leading and developing second‑shift production associates, managing workflow and schedules, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards. The manufacturing engineering responsibilities include supporting and improving production processes, developing and maintaining work instructions and layouts, and resolving technical issues that arise during the shift.

The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory experience and a strong background in manufacturing engineering, enabling them to work independently and drive operational excellence.

This role works our second shift, from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM Monday thru Thursday.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and supervise a second shift production team, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards.
    • Develop, implement, and sustain manufacturing processes for new and existing products, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement.
    • Review product designs and create clear work instructions and process procedures for operational personnel.
    • Prepare and manage production schedules, resource allocations, and workflow maps to optimize operations.
    • Estimate labor, material, tooling, and equipment costs for proposals and production planning.
    • Design tooling and fixtures for production and inspection, supporting capital equipment justification and installation.
    • Conduct process capability studies, audits, and time studies to identify and eliminate waste.
    • Maintain and update SOPs, DCNs, and SWIs.
    • Lead staffing activities: interview, hire, train, and evaluate team members, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Assign duties and review work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to quality standards.
    • Communicate goals, expectations, and progress through daily management meetings.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing processes and value streams.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent technical experience is an acceptable alternative to a degree.
    • Minimum 2–3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
    • Prior supervisory experience required, preferably in a second shift or independent leadership role.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Automation programming experience is a plus.

    Working Conditions:

Support manufacturing operations for linear explosive product lines. Operate and oversee remotely controlled equipment for loading, forming, and cutting materials used in aerospace/defense manufacturing.
