Bus Operator

RATP Dev USA is seeking dependable and customer-focused Bus Drivers to join our transportation team in Lompoc, California. Bus Drivers are responsible for safely operating transit vehicles, providing excellent customer service, following scheduled routes, and ensuring passengers reach their destinations safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate transit buses along assigned routes and schedules.

• Provide safe, reliable, and courteous transportation to passengers.

• Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle when needed.

• Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.

• Maintain awareness of surrounding traffic, pedestrians, cyclists, and road conditions.

• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

• Report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, accidents, and safety issues promptly.

• Provide passengers with route and schedule information.

• Maintain professional communication with passengers, dispatchers, supervisors, and other employees.

• Follow assigned schedules and communicate delays or service disruptions.

• Maintain a clean and professional appearance.

• Complete required reports and documentation accurately.

• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.

• Participate in required training and safety meetings.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Valid California driver's license.

• Must meet applicable driving and employment requirements.

• Acceptable driving record.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

• Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

• Willingness to complete all required company training.

• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and split shifts as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a transit vehicle.

• Ability to enter and exit a bus repeatedly during a work shift.

• Ability to assist passengers when necessary.

• Ability to perform safety inspections and basic vehicle checks.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Must be able to meet applicable physical and medical requirements for the position.
