CORE FUNCTIONS
- Lead DTV and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives to optimize existing product designs, reduce costs, and improve overall product value.
- Analyze product designs, materials, components, and manufacturing processes to identify cost reduction and product simplification opportunities.
- Develop innovative design solutions utilizing CAD and other engineering tools to improve product functionality, manufacturability, quality, and cost competitiveness.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to simplify product designs, reduce complexity, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Partner with Product Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to evaluate alternative materials, components, suppliers, and manufacturing technologies.
- Prioritize and execute product improvement opportunities based on business impact, technical feasibility, and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality teams to analyze warranty claims, product failures, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for design improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5 or more years of hands-on product design experience
- Lean or similar continuous improvement knowledge and experience preferred
- Software experience: CAD/CAM, Microsoft Office Suite, ERP Software

Travel
- Occasional travel may be required

- Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less, occasional lifting of 26 pounds or more
- Standing, walking, and sitting throughout the duration of shift, daily
- Repetitive use of hands and/or fingers, able to reach with hands and arms, and use of vision
