Summary:

Global Graduate Programme 

The RES Global Graduate Programme is a two-year development programme designed to provide graduates with meaningful work experience, professional development and exposure to different areas of the renewable energy industry.

Over the course of the programme, graduates will complete three rotations of approximately eight months each across different teams, functions or business areas. Each rotation is designed to build technical capability, commercial awareness and leadership potential while helping graduates develop a broad understanding of RES and the renewable energy industry.

Graduates will work on real projects, collaborate with experienced colleagues and be encouraged to take ownership of their development while making meaningful contributions to the business. Through a combination of structured learning, practical experience and professional development opportunities, graduates will build the skills and experience needed for a successful long-term career at RES.

This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 4 days in office.

Requirements:   

Rotation 1: Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Accountabilities

As part of the FP&A rotation, the graduate will work closely with the FP&A team under the guidance of the FP&A Manager gaining exposure to:

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management reporting packs, budgets and forecasts, gaining exposure to the full planning and forecasting cycle.
• Participating in the monthly financial close review cycle and helping to prepare budget presentations and year-over-year bridge analyses for senior leadership.
• Assisting with the collection, consolidation and analysis of cost centre, departmental and legal entity financial data to support accurate reporting.
• Learning to interpret trends in revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditure, and supporting senior analysts in identifying and explaining variances.
• Helping to build and maintain financial models and forecasting tools under the guidance of experienced FP&A colleagues.
• Supporting the preparation of clear, well-presented reports and analysis for business partners, and developing the ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Developing a working understanding of the Group’s reporting systems (ERP, CPM and Excel-based tools) and contributing to ongoing improvements in reporting processes and data quality.
• Building relationships across the finance function and wider business, and participating in day-to-day business partnering activity under supervision.

Rotation 2: Project Controls

Accountabilities

As part of the Project Controls rotation, the graduate will work closely with the project controls team, gaining exposure to:

• Assisting with the development, review and monitoring of project budgets, and supporting the transfer of budget information between systems.
• Supporting the preparation of Schedules of Value and pay applications in line with contract terms, working alongside Project Managers.
• Gaining exposure to job cost review, reclassification and variance investigation, and supporting final job audits and commitment close-outs.
• Supporting Earned Value Analysis (EVA) reporting and developing an entry-level understanding of project cost tracking and progress reporting.
• Assisting with monthly forecast modelling and project forecasting report support and analysis.
• Supporting the monthly construction cash review cycle, comparing forecast to actual receipts and disbursements by project and helping to investigate and categorise cash flow variances (timing, payment term changes and data alignment).
• Learning how subcontractor and client change management processes, and monthly subcontractor pay packages, are administered, including how contractual down payments and negotiated payment terms affect project cash flow.
• Supporting the team’s use of project financial tools such as Procore, and ERP systems, and contributing to process documentation.
• Participating in project kick-off and close-out meetings to build a broad understanding of the project lifecycle and project controls.

Rotation 3: Project Finance

Accountabilities

As part of the Project Finance rotation, the graduate will work closely with the project finance team, gaining exposure to:

• Supporting the preparation of routine and ad hoc financial reporting for internal departments, customers and external parties.
• Assisting with the maintenance of financial reports drawn from the ERP system, CPM reporting system and Excel-based models.
• Gaining exposure to investment committee reviews (RRIC and MTC), including supporting the preparation of project economics — contract value, margin, contingency and warranty assumptions — for investment papers.
• Supporting reviews of counterparty financials and payment security arrangements (such as parent company guarantees and letters of credit) and helping to track cancellation exposure on early works commitments.
• Assisting with financial inputs to bid submissions and supporting portfolio reviews of project performance, cash position and exposure.
• Providing day-to-day support to business partners in response to financial queries and analysis requests.
• Developing an understanding of current reporting structures and contributing to future reporting and data quality improvements.

Qualifications:

• Expected to achieve, or have recently completed, a Bachelor’s degree in the following disciplines. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong academic performance (Minimum (2:1) classification) and a genuine interest in the renewable energy industry’

• Interest in expanding your knowledge of the renewable energy industry
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to adapt to your different placement cycles with ease
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables) and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and support clear, evidence-based recommendations.
• A keen eye for detail and accuracy, with a methodical and organised approach to work.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach to learning, with the ability to seek out and apply feedback to support personal development.
• A basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, with an interest in developing further technical and systems knowledge (e.g. ERP, Procore or similar financial systems).

Anticipated base salary range: $60,000 - $65,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
