Technical Lead, Middleware System Services

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead, Middleware System Services to join our team at RHB Banking Group. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert in Enterprise Middleware systems across the Group, ensuring robust architecture design, implementation, stability, and performance of key middleware platforms. You will collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to drive strategic planning, system enhancement initiatives, and operational support to maintain high system availability across Bank, Islamic, Insurance, Investment Bank, and regional entities.

What you will be doing

• Lead the technical design, architecture planning, and implementation of Enterprise Middleware systems (IBM WebSphere MQ, WAS, JBoss EAP, WebLogic, and other related technologies).

• Deliver resilient and optimized infrastructure setups to achieve high performance, reliability, and availability aligned with defined SLA/OLA targets.

• Perform configuration, capacity planning, and performance tuning to enhance overall middleware system efficiency.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation including system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational guidelines.

• Serve as the key escalation point for complex technical issues and guide engineering teams in incident resolution and root cause analysis.

• Manage incidents and provide both short-term and long-term corrective measures to improve system resilience.

• Ensure adherence to security standards, regulatory requirements, internal audit compliance, and Group IT frameworks and policies.

• Lead and mentor middleware engineers, cultivating a culture of knowledge sharing, skill enhancement, and technical excellence.

• Support the execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for middleware systems.

• Collaborate with vendors to evaluate and implement new middleware technologies, upgrades, and enhancements.

• Participate in on-call rotation and support off-hours maintenance activities as required.

• Provide regular performance and health status reporting to relevant stakeholders.

• Manage technical projects with minimal supervision and coordinate with other infrastructure and application teams to meet project timelines.

What we’re looking for

• Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in Enterprise Middleware platforms such as IBM WebSphere MQ, WAS, JBoss EAP, WebLogic, and related systems.

• Proven ability in designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing large-scale, high-availability middleware infrastructures.

• Experience in incident management, problem analysis, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding technical teams.

• Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.

• Familiarity with IT governance frameworks, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines is an advantage.
