RN Clinic Triage - Podiatry, Infectious Disease, and Palliative Care

Purpose of Job:

This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in a clinic setting. Responsible for facilitating patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

Job Functions:

1. Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and patient histories; documents in EMR.
2. Performs telephone assessment of patient condition and determines appropriate treatment for patient under the supervision of the provider.
3. Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies.
4. Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients.
5. Assists in maintaining stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room.
6. Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at end of day.
7. Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.
8. Provides patient education.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience

• Graduate from a School of Nursing
• 1 year of experience in a clinical setting

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Skills in assessment of patient condition and taking vital signs
• Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
• Skills in preparing and maintaining records and reports
• Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

License/Certifications

• Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license applicaiton is in process
• Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
