    Job description

    About Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.8B+ from the world’s top investors including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.

    About the role

Rippling is building a Data Cloud that powers analytics and intelligence across 30+ products, and the Managed Connectors team is a critical part of that platform.

As the Engineering Manager for Managed Connectors, you’ll build and lead this charter from India, owning the platform that brings data from systems such as Salesforce, GitHub, Google Calendar, databases, and other third-party applications into Rippling’s analytics ecosystem.

Today, the Data Cloud runs 60,000+ analytical workloads every day, with that scale expected to grow to hundreds of thousands of workloads as we expand the platform.

This is a highly technical EM role. You’ll stay close to architecture and system design, lead a strong engineering team, partner with Product on roadmap and strategy, and help define how Rippling builds and operates connectors at scale.

    About the team

The Managed Connectors team is responsible for integrating data from external sources and internal Rippling products to fuel the company’s analytics ecosystem. We build the bridges that allow our customers to bring in data from sources such as GitHub, Salesforce, and Google Calendar to drive deep insights and trends analysis.

The broader organization has 30+ engineers across San Francisco, Toronto, and Bangalore. The Managed Connectors team builds the infrastructure that allows customers to bring external and internal data into the platform reliably and at scale.

    What you will do
    • Own the Managed Connectors charter end-to-end, from technical strategy and architecture through execution and operations
    • Define the team's roadmap in partnership with Product and Data Cloud leadership
    • Build scalable distributed systems that reliably ingest data from a wide variety of external sources
    • Create strong engineering mechanisms around reliability, quality, observability, and operational excellence
    • Help shape the team's culture, hiring strategy, and technical direction as the organization grows
    • Drive automation that makes building and operating connectors dramatically more efficient
    What you will need
    • At least 8 years of experience in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures; and at least 3 years of experience as an Engineering Managers in leading development teams
    • A strong technical foundation in backend engineering, distributed systems, data infrastructure, or platform engineering
    • Experience owning complex systems from architecture through production
    • The ability to lead engineers while remaining deeply hands-on and engaged in technical decision-making
    • Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results
    • Experience working across engineering, product, and other stakeholder teams to drive ambiguous initiatives to completion
