    Job description

    Overview

Department: Medical Surgical Acute Unit 5

    Shift’s Available: Nights

Employment Type: Per Diem (PD / PRN)

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

We are seeking a Medical-Surgical Nursing Assistant, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele Nursing Assistant.  The Med-Surg/Tele Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

    Responsibilities

    • Basic patient care: help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating
    • Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
    • Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.
    • EKG lead maintenance: ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Certified Nursing Assistant’s (CNA’s) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses
