Maintenance Tech

Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Technician.

Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our West Jordan UT. facility and reports to the Director of Facilities.

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This role troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment issues, completes scheduled preventive maintenance, and supports equipment installations and facility improvement projects.

Essential Functions

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair manufacturing equipment, machinery, and supporting systems to minimize downtime and maintain reliable operations.
• Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems, including AC/DC controls, wiring, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical components.
• Diagnose equipment issues using operator feedback, equipment manuals, observation, and appropriate measuring and testing equipment.
• Perform basic fabrication, welding, machining, and other mechanical repairs as needed.

Preventive Maintenance

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance plans for manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or developing issues and complete repairs before they result in equipment failure.
• Document completed maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment conditions.
• Support continuous improvement efforts that increase equipment reliability, safety, and performance.

Facility & Operational Support

• Maintain and support facility systems, including HVAC, process cooling/heating equipment, plumbing, electrical, and other building infrastructure.
• Support installation, relocation, and modification of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
• Maintain appropriate maintenance parts, tools, and supplies and communicate replenishment needs.
• Support outside contractors and vendors performing specialized maintenance, repairs, or equipment services.
• Perform maintenance activities in accordance with company safety, quality, environmental, and operational requirements.

Non-Essential Functions

• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Experience

• 3–5 years of industrial, manufacturing, or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment, machinery, and electrical/mechanical systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, trade school, or related certification preferred.

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of electrical systems, AC/DC controls, PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with HVAC, process cooling/heating equipment, industrial plumbing, and facility systems.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation and use common diagnostic and measuring equipment.
• Basic welding, machining, fabrication, and hand/power tool skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with maintenance tracking or CMMS systems preferred.

Professional Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and dependable with the ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance needs.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, and outside service providers.

Compensation:

The compensation range for this position falls within $28-$38. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset,  and other factors permitted by law.
