    Job description

Rockwell Automation is a global technology leader focused on helping the world’s manufacturers be more productive, sustainable, and agile. With more than 28,000 employees who make the world better every day, we know we have something special. Behind our customers - amazing companies that help feed the world, provide life-saving medicine on a global scale, and focus on clean water and green mobility - our people are energized problem solvers that take pride in how the work we do changes the world for the better.

We welcome all makers, forward thinkers, and problem solvers who are looking for a place to do their best work. And if that’s you we would love to have you join us!

    Job Description

As a System Test Engineer you will prove that our machine safety and industrial communication products work together — and fail safely — in the systems our customers actually build. You will design and run system-level tests on products such as EtherNet/IP, GuardLink, IO-Link and the 450L GuardShield light curtain, build the lab setups to test them, and help shape how we test.

You will join a small, senior system test team in our Safety, Sensing and Industrial Components business.

You will report to the Manager, System and Software Test, and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland, on site at least three days per week.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Own system test end to end for your products: turn requirements into risk-based test plans, then execute functional, interoperability, timing and fault-injection tests.
    • Build and improve hardware test rigs with safety controllers, safety light curtains, IO-Link masters and EtherNet/IP networks.
    • Validate that the system enters a safe state and reports the right diagnostics when faults occur.
    • Root-cause complex, cross-domain issues together with development and drive them to closure.
    • Grow our test automation and contribute to test strategy and coverage.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, Controls or Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience in system, integration or hardware test.
    • Professional experience testing electronic or industrial automation products, hands-on with test hardware.
    • English language skills at CEFR B2 level or above.
    • The ability to work on site in Katowice, Poland at least three days per week.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

    • Three or more years in system or integration test of industrial automation, machine safety or electronics products.
    • Experience with an industrial network — EtherNet/IP and CIP, or a comparable one such as PROFINET or EtherCAT.
    • Experience with safety or smart-device technologies such as GuardLink, OSSD safety outputs, IO-Link or safety light curtains.
    • Test automation experience with Python, LabVIEW or TestStand, and comfort with lab instruments such as an oscilloscope and programmable power supply.

    What We Offer:

    Our benefits package includes …

    • Volunteer Paid Time off available after 6 months of employment for eligible employees.
    • Company volunteer and donation matching program – Your volunteer hours or personal cash donations to an eligible charity can be matched with a charitable donation.
    • On-demand digital course library for professional development.
    • Comprehensive mindfulness programs with a premium membership to Calm.
    • Employee Assistance Program.
    • Personalized wellbeing programs through our OnTrack program.

    ... and other local benefits!

At Rockwell Automation we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right person for this or other roles.
