The Annual Diocesan Appeal Manager works directly with the Bishop of Richmond, the Pastors Advisory Committee, CCF leadership, and the Diocesan Finance Office to set and reach ambitious annual goals. Reporting to the Director of Development and Operations, this is one of five new advancement positions created out of the Foundation’s recent strategic planning process, with the opportunity to shape how donors across the Diocese experience the Appeal each year.

    Primary Responsibilites:

    • Ensures that all Annual Diocesan Appeal goals and objectives outlined in the CCF’s Strategic Plan are accomplished in the proper timeframe.
    • Develops and executes a comprehensive multi-channel Appeal plan (direct mail, digital, social media, and in-pew solicitations).
    • Manages all internal operations related to the successful execution of the Annual Diocesan Appeal process.
    • Establishes annual fundraising goals and benchmarks in collaboration with the Bishop of Richmond, Pastors Advisory Committee, CCF leadership and the Diocesan Finance Office.
    • Manages the coordination, development, and production timeline for all Appeal collateral, including brochures, pledge cards, promotional announcements, etc.
    • Serves as a consultant to pastors and parish business managers, providing them with the tools and data needed to reach their individual parish goals.
    • Conducts regional training workshops to inspire and equip pastors, parish staff members, and parish volunteers.
    • Develops "best practice" toolkits for parishes, including pulpit announcements, bulletin inserts, and social media templates.
    • Visits parishes throughout the year to develop relationships with pastors and parish staff members.
    • Works with the Director of Development of Operations on the administration of the Pastors Advisory Committee coordination process involving the Bishop of Richmond, Vicar General, priest committee members, and key Pastoral Center leaders.
    • Oversees the gift processing workflow to ensure high standards of accuracy and timely donor acknowledgment.
    • Manages the Annual Appeal’s Bishop’s Circle, a leadership giving society that provides special recognition and educational opportunities to donors who contribute $1,000+ to the Appeal.
    • Works with the CCF Marketing and Communications Manager on the development and execution of an Annual Diocesan Appeal Speakers Bureau.
    • Provides regular reports to the Bishop of Richmond and key staff members regarding Appeal progress.
    • Designs and implements plans to move donors to the next level in their giving, acquire new donors, and conserve lapsed donors.
    • Works with the Director of Development and Operations on the overall budget for the Appeal.
    • Drafts personalized acknowledgment letters and impact reports that demonstrate how Appeal funds are transforming lives within the Diocese.
    • Attends regional and national conferences to advance understanding of fundraising best practices.
    • Supports other fundraising activities as requested.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of demonstrated experience in fundraising for a charitable organization required.

Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.
Fundamental understanding of how an online giving platform works.
Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong computer skills are required.
