Shape the Future of Telecom Infrastructure: We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer II to perform structural analysis, design, evaluation, and modification of macro telecommunications towers and foundations, including self-supporting lattice towers, guyed towers, monopoles, and related components.
Scope of Responsibility: The Design Engineer II independently performs assigned engineering work using established methods, procedures, codes, and standards. Responsibilities include evaluating existing towers for revised loading, designing new towers and foundations, developing modifications and reinforcements, preparing engineering calculations and reports, and supporting field activities.
Essential Duties:
· Perform structural analysis and design of macro telecommunications towers, including lattice towers, guyed towers, monopoles, foundations, and related components.
· Design new towers and foundations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and company criteria.
· Analyze existing towers and foundations for revised antenna, equipment, wind, ice, seismic, and other applicable loading.
· Evaluate structural capacity and design required modifications, reinforcements, connections, and foundations.
· Apply structural engineering principles related to steel, concrete, soils, load paths, and stability.
· Perform and verify engineering calculations and prepare reports, drawings, and technical documentation for PE review and sealing, as applicable.
· Manage assigned engineering projects from analysis through completion.
· Provide technical guidance and assistance to Design Engineer I and other less-experienced engineers.
· Develop and improve engineering spreadsheets, calculation tools, standard details, procedures, and design methodologies.
· Maintain knowledge of applicable structural codes, telecommunications standards, and tower design practices.
· Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education & Certifications
· Bachelor's degree in Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
· Current Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
· Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required if not currently licensed as a Professional Engineer.
· Ability to obtain a PE license as experience and eligibility permit.
Experience
· 2 to 5 years of structural engineering experience, including Engineer-in-Training experience.
· Experience designing or analyzing telecommunications towers is preferred.
· Experience with self-supporting lattice towers, guyed towers, monopoles, and tower foundations is preferred.
· Experience evaluating existing towers for revised loading is preferred.
· Experience designing tower modifications or reinforcements is preferred.
· Experience with structural steel, concrete, foundations, and connections is required or strongly preferred.
· Experience providing technical support to field or construction personnel is a plus.
· Experience with Guy Master or comparable structural analysis software is preferred.
Skills & Abilities
· Strong knowledge of structural analysis, load paths, stability, steel, concrete, foundations, soils, and connections.
· Knowledge of macro telecommunications towers, antennas, equipment, and structural attachments.
· Experience with tower modifications, reinforcements, construction, and field installation.
· Experience with Guy Master or comparable structural analysis software.
· Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Ability to independently solve engineering problems and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
· Sound engineering judgment and strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, meet schedules, and collaborate across engineering, field, and construction teams.
· Ability to provide technical guidance and mentor less-experienced engineers.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, reliable, and quality engineering solutions.

· Position works primarily in an office environment; however, occasionally required to travel to customer and vendor locations
· Ability to use hand tools for light assembly/modification of test and prototype articles for third party or in-house lab work.
· Position requires working on a computer, phone and with general office equipment
· Regularly required to use hands to work on the computer, finger, handle, or grasp, reach with hands and arms
· Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
· Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
· Approximately 10% travel is required.
