Location: Saginaw ISD  -  Millet Learning Center

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Nine (9) months based upon the established school year.
2. Start date is upon expiration of the posting deadline and in accordance with Article XIII, Section C of the USW Contract.

GENERAL SUMMARY:  This position will provide instructional and non-instructional services to students as outlined by the assigned certified classroom teacher.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

1. Will provide direct and/or standby assistance for feeding, toileting, health care, and related medical services, etc. for students as legally allowable.
2. To provide instruction at all locations to students under the meaningful direction and supervision of certified teachers and/or other certified support staff.
3. Responsible for collecting and tabulating instructional data.
4. To implement and/or monitor behavior treatment plans under the direction and supervision of certified teachers.
5. To implement/provide community-based instruction as provided by teacher lesson plans.
6. To provide non-instructional services to students such as, but not limited to; student mobility, general health and safety, loading/unloading buses, monitoring lunchroom and other unstructured time.
7. To keep all student, parent and staff information confidential.
8. To have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, other staff members and community members who visit SISD facilities or programs.
9. To be able to lift and assist students weighing 75 lbs. or more.
10. To be responsible for securing wheelchairs on buses, and any other duties that are necessary to provide a safe environment for students while traveling on a bus during the school day. 
11. To ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
12. To meet and greet visitors in a positive, helpful manner.
13. Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.

MARGINAL SKILLS:

1. Maintenance and disinfecting of classroom equipment.
2. Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or GED.
2. Basic computer skills.
3. Two years of experience working with developmentally disabled children, or two years of college in related areas.
4. Must be able to work effectively with co-workers, students and parents.
5. Must be able to lift and assist students weighing 75 lbs. or more.
6. Good oral/written communication, comprehension, and math skills required.
7. Good attendance history required.
