Sr Manager, Tax

We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and strategic Sr Manager, Tax to join our tax team. In this highly visible role, you will lead and oversee core aspects of SailPoint’s global tax function, including U.S. federal and state income tax compliance, ASC 740 income tax provision, international tax strategy, transfer pricing, and cross-border tax planning.

As SailPoint continues its global expansion, you will partner closely with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, and external advisors to ensure compliance, , manage tax risk, and support strategic corporate initiatives.

Responsibilities

U.S. Federal, State & Local Tax Compliance

• Manage and review the end-to-end U.S. federal and multi-state corporate income tax compliance process, including tax return filings, extensions, and estimated tax payments.
• Evaluate and model the tax impact of federal tax regulations and legislative changes (e.g., IRC Section 174, Section 163(j), BEAT, FDII, and state conformity updates).
• Oversee non-income tax compliance and advisory as needed, including state sales/use tax, property tax, and gross receipts taxes.

International Tax Compliance

• Oversee international tax compliance and reporting for non-U.S. legal entities across EMEA, LATAM, and APAC regions.
• Collaborate on intercompany transaction structures, transfer pricing policies, Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting, and intercompany service agreements.
• Monitor global digital tax regulations and global e-invoicing/e-reporting implementation requirements across operating jurisdictions.
• Provide tax input and strategic guidance on international transfers, entity rationalization, permanent establishment (PE) risk mitigations, and cross-border cash repatriation strategies.

Income Tax Accounting

• Manage the quarterly and annual global income tax provision processes (ASC 740) under U.S. GAAP, including return-to-provision reconciliations, tax reserve analyses (FIN 48/ASC 740-10), and valuation allowance assessments.
• Prepare clear technical accounting memos and financial statement disclosures (10-K / 10-Q tax footnotes) for internal leadership and external auditors.
• Ensure strong internal controls over financial reporting for all tax processes in compliance with SOX standards.

Tax Controversy & Risk Management

• Assist with management of federal, state, and international tax authority audits, inquiries, and routine notices.
• Assist with robust audit defense strategies and partner with external tax advisors minimize exposures and resolve disputes effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
• 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and in-house corporate tax experience
• Knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax compliance, ASC 740 income tax accounting, and international tax concepts (Subpart F, GILTI, BEAT, FTC).
• Proficient with enterprise Netsuite ERP systems, OneSource tax software, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Taxation (MST) or Juris Doctor (JD / LL.M. in Taxation).
• Experience handling tax strategy and compliance for global SaaS business models.

The Path to Success (Milestones)

1-Month Milestones

• Gain a foundational understanding of SailPoint’s global tax structure and existing U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance processes.
• Familiarize with the current quarterly and annual global income tax provision processes (ASC 740), which will be a primary focus of the role.
• Meet and begin building rapport with key team members and stakeholders, including direct reports as well as cross-functional partners in Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and FP&A.
• Begin familiarization with core tax systems and tools, including Netsuite ERP, OneSource tax software, and Excel, as part of understanding current processes.

2-Month Milestones

• Solidify working relationships with direct reports and key internal partners to foster a collaborative environment.
• Start independently overseeing routine activities related to U.S. federal and multi-state corporate income tax compliance, including review of filings and extensions.
• Actively contribute to and manage specific components of the quarterly global income tax provision process (ASC 740), demonstrating an increasing level of autonomy in this core area.
• Provide initial input and support on international tax compliance and reporting for non-U.S. entities across EMEA, LATAM, and APAC regions.

3-Month Milestones

• Present initial observations and recommendations to management regarding potential process improvements or risk mitigation strategies within U.S. federal, state, or income tax accounting.
• Be fully ramped on core tax tools and processes, including proficient use of Netsuite ERP, OneSource tax software, and Excel for day-to-day operations and analysis.
• Demonstrate a strong grasp of managing the end-to-end U.S. federal and multi-state corporate income tax compliance process.
• Independently manage significant portions of the global income tax provision (ASC 740), including preparing clear technical accounting memos and contributing to financial statement disclosures.

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-max, USD):

$103,000 - $173,578.00

Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
