    Job Summary: The Mammographer Screener is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for performing high-quality mammographic examinations to aid in the early detection of breast abnormalities, including cancer. The role requires technical expertise in operating mammography equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and accurately capturing diagnostic images. The screener works collaboratively with radiologists and other healthcare staff to provide exceptional patient care. Minimum Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certified in Mammography. Experience: Minimum 6 months related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient knowledge of mammography equipment and digital imaging systems Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Strong analytical skills for evaluating image quality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms following established protocols and safety standards. Ensures proper positioning of patients to obtain accurate, high-quality imaging. Evaluates images for technical quality and clarity, identifying the need for repeat imaging when necessary. Maintains patient records accurately, documenting procedures and any relevant observations. Provides education and reassurance to patients regarding the mammography process. Always follows radiation safety guidelines and infection control procedures. Assist radiologists in additional breast imaging procedures (e.g., ultrasound, biopsy guidance) as needed. Participate in quality control programs and continuing education to maintain credentialing and competency. Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize patient care and workflow efficiency. Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from a supervisor. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Special Job Dimensions: None.
