This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to take on increased technical responsibility, work directly with clients, and further develop leadership and project management skills within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities: As an Intermediate Engineer, you will:

    • Lead and review the preparation of structural engineering deliverables, including calculations, reports, specifications, drawings, and 3D models.
    • Perform structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, masonry, and foundation systems in industrial and commercial applications.
    • Utilize engineering software such as RISA, SAP2000, Revit, and Bluebeam to develop and review project designs.
    • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers, supporting their professional development.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
    • Participate in project planning, scheduling, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
    • Communicate directly with clients regarding project requirements, technical solutions, document coordination, and project schedules.
    • Support site inspections, field reviews, and construction-related activities as required.

Qualifications and Experience: To be successful in this role, you will have:

    • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required; a Master's degree is a plus.
    • A minimum of 4 years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably within heavy industrial sectors such as mining, cement, lime, or pulp and paper.
    • Demonstrated experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
    • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, including SAP2000, RISA, or equivalent programs.
    • Working knowledge of North American steel and concrete design codes and standards.
    • Experience supporting project management activities, including scheduling, QA/QC processes, and client coordination.
    • Technical experience that is highly desirable:
      • Reinforced and post-tensioned concrete structures
      • Reinforced masonry systems
      • Structural steel and composite steel construction
      • Shallow, deep, and raft foundations
      • Concrete, masonry, and wood shear wall systems
      • Braced frame and moment-resisting steel frame systems
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Proven ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

    Professional requirements:

    • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and in good standing with the applicable regulatory body.
    • Commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions and exceptional client service.
    • Occasional travel (approx. 5%) within Canada
      • Ability to travel to the US, a bonus.
