Position Summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Life Safety Systems Technician to join the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team at our advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taylor, Texas. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the installation, continuous operation, preventive maintenance, calibration, and emergency troubleshooting of critical facility-wide life safety systems. These encompass toxic gas monitoring systems (TGMS), flame and fire detection arrays, specialized chemical spill alarm systems, and high-tech emergency shutdown controls essential for maintaining a secure and compliant fabrication environment.
Working in a fast-paced, cutting-edge semiconductor fabrication environment, you will execute routine inspections, system certifications, and sensor calibrations to ensure complete operational readiness and full compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards (including OSHA, TCEQ, and NFPA). You will partner closely with EHS engineers, facilities maintenance personnel, and emergency response teams to analyze system telemetry, address fault alerts, and rapidly resolve equipment anomalies before they impact site safety or continuous manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical hands-on expertise with low-voltage wiring, gas detection instrumentation, and PLC/DCS alarm monitoring interfaces, alongside proven experience following strict management-of-change (MOC) and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to safety, excellent troubleshooting abilities under high-pressure scenarios, and a commitment to fostering a zero-incident culture across the Taylor site.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Support daily planned & unplanned operation and monitoring of life safety systems including fire alarm, fire suppression, toxic gas monitoring and related systems.

• Coordinate with approved vendors and contractors for inspection, testing, maintenance and repairs of life safety systems.

• Interpret, apply and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local codes (IFC, IBC, NFPA, etc.), industry standards and company requirements.

• Lead or support life safety design efforts in coordination with project teams and subcontractors.

• Identify abnormalities, alarms and deficiencies and escalate per established protocols

• Support hazard identification, risk assessments and mitigation strategies for life safety system performance and risk reduction.

• Assist with audits, inspections, interface and documentation required for life safety operations.
• Work hours: A Shift – Sunday through Tuesday (6:45am – 7:15pm) with alternating Wednesdays.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Fire Protection, or related preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in life safety, fire protection systems, industrial, semiconductor or mission-critical environments preferred.
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements (federal/state/local codes).
• Strong analytical, organizational and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead design efforts, coordinate corrective maintenance activities and manage deadlines.

The current base salary range for this role is between $26.00 - $33.00/hour. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
