Senior Special Structural Analysis Engineer 1 - Nuclear

Responsibilities

This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting engineering challenging opportunities related to the structural analysis and design of nuclear power plants and similar facilities. You will closely collaborate with a team of structural engineering analysts and designers, as well as engineers from other disciplines, providing an excellent opportunity for knowledge sharing and career advancement.  The work will involve unique technical analyses in support of engineering projects at new nuclear power plants, operating nuclear power plants requiring upgrades and modifications, and other nuclear safety-related facilities. As a member of an engineering and design team, you will contribute to engineering solutions through the following:

• Application of your knowledge in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Preparing design calculations, developing specifications, and supporting designers with drawing development on a wide range of engineering projects for various clients. The opportunity to guide others in the development of engineering deliverables will also be available.
• Use of S&L’s state-of-the-art computer and software tools to perform structural analysis of nuclear safety-related structures under various loading conditions, such seismic loading and impactive/impulsive loading.
• Potential travel to client and vendor offices as well as project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification of designs.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA
• Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Valued, but not required:

• Ph.D. degree
• Experience with design and analysis of nuclear power plants and/or industrial structures
• Design and analysis of structures under blast and/or aircraft impact loading
• Soil-structure interaction analysis of nuclear safety-related structures
• PE or SE license

Compensation Range

$84,762 - $129,498
