I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide extra assistance to students with special needs.
- Assist students individually or in small groups academically.
- Supervise students.
- Work with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Arrange with classroom teachers to collect student assignments.
- Enforce classroom values.
- Responsible for assisting with classroom behavior.
- Responsible for completing students point sheets.
- Assist in crisis intervention for students.
- Responsible for recording information behavior on ABC sheets.
- Complete the following reports when necessary: information, behaviorals, and incident reports.
- Provide communication to members of the Behavior Support team regarding any behavior requiring intervention.
- Responsible for monitoring the attendance of all students assigned to their class.
- Performs all duties as assigned.
II. QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum high school diploma or GED
- Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license and fingerprinting as required by the program.
- A Teacher's Assistant certificate is not require but preferred.
- A clean and valid NYS driver’s license preferred.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities/traumatic brain injuries preferred.

- Be a team player.
- Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization.
- Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately.
