SCR Mining and Tunnelling is currently seeking experienced and safety-focused Shotcreters for underground mine projects. The successful candidate will operate shotcrete equipment and apply shotcrete as part of the ground support program, working closely with the underground crew to complete the work safely and to project specifications.

This is a full-time role. Schedule and hours: 5-5 Monday to Friday.

Underground mine site: Coleman Mine, Levack, Ontario

Job Duties and Responsibilities

As an Underground Shotcreter, your duties will include:

• Promoting a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
• Using required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection where specified
• Reporting unsafe conditions, poor ground conditions, incidents, and equipment concerns immediately
• Participating in required site training, safety meetings, and pre-work inspections
• Maintaining a clean and safe underground work area
• Following site ground control plans, work procedures, and supervisor direction
• Checking the work area and confirming it is ready for shotcrete application
• Inspecting shotcrete pumps, sprayers, hoses, and nozzles before use
• Setting up equipment and coordinating material delivery with the underground crew
• Operating shotcrete equipment to apply material to backs, walls, and other specified areas
• Monitoring coverage, thickness, rebound, and finish against project requirements
• Communicating with crew members to maintain safe distances and control the spray area
• Identifying and reporting material, pump, hose, or application issues promptly
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment in accordance with operating and isolation procedures
• Recording equipment checks, material use, and completed work accurately
• Assisting with related underground ground support tasks as directed

Qualifications

The following experience and qualifications are considered assets:

• Experience applying shotcrete in an underground mine or tunnelling environment
• Experience operating mechanized shotcrete sprayers, pumps, and related equipment
• Knowledge of wet-mix shotcrete application and ground support practices
• Experience identifying equipment faults and completing routine inspections
• Underground mining training or certifications relevant to the work site
• Ability to read and follow ground support plans and application specifications
• Valid driver’s licence, if required for the assigned site

Candidates with equivalent underground construction experience and transferable skills will also be considered.

Please note that candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Employer sponsorship or work permit support is not available for this role.

Compensation

Hourly base wage range between $24-$30, plus applicable bonus
