Position Summary

Select Sires is seeking a reliable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Veterinary Assistant to join the Veterinary Services team.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside veterinarians in an exclusively cattle-focused environment. This role supports animal health, diagnostic testing, reproductive health, veterinary procedures, and the artificial insemination industry.

The successful candidate will take pride in completing accurate, quality work, report to work reliably and on time, collaborate effectively with others, and assist wherever needed to support the department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as a positive representative of the Select Sires mission and core values.
• Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, vaccinations, surgeries, and other veterinary procedures.
• Safely restrain and handle cattle during veterinary procedures and animal health activities.
• Collect, identify, and prepare diagnostic samples for laboratory submission, including blood, preputial, and fecal samples.
• Maintain inventory and order medications, vaccines, diagnostic materials, personal protective equipment, and other veterinary supplies.
• Accurately prepare export documentation, embryo donor sire certificates, and other specialized customer documents.
• Assist with departmental billing by coordinating veterinary service and supply charges with the Select Sires Financial Department.
• Communicate effectively with teams and departments throughout the organization.
• Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and efficient work environment.
• Use Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications to complete departmental work.
• Learn and use Select Sires systems, including AS400, Fusion, Acumatica, and other department-specific software.
• Follow established animal health, biosecurity, safety, and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with additional departmental responsibilities and operational needs as assigned.
