The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low-voltage systems, including security cameras, access control systems, structured cabling, and network infrastructure. This role supports new installations, service calls, and system upgrades while ensuring all work is completed safely, neatly, and according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber, coaxial, and related wiring.
- Pull and route network cables through ceilings, walls, conduits, cable trays, and other pathways.
- Install and service security camera systems, including IP cameras, NVRs, mounts, cabling, and related equipment.
- Install and support access control systems, including card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and control panels.
- Troubleshoot low-voltage systems, network connections, cameras, wireless access points, and access control devices.
- Read and follow floor plans, wiring diagrams, work orders, and project instructions.
- Perform cable testing, tone tracing, continuity checks, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Safely operate boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, ladders, and other equipment required to complete installations.
- Follow all safety procedures when working at elevated heights, around equipment, or in active work areas.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Document completed work, cable labels, device locations, test results, and service notes.
- Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, customers, vendors, and other trades as needed.
