The Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illness while advancing the field of neuroscience. Our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN). In this role, you will work closely with a comprehensive team to provide personalized patient care in pre and post operative and or procedural setting. Our ASC is open Monday to Friday and hours in this role are approximately 6:45 am - 3:00 pm.
We are closed on the weekends and holidays. To qualify for PRN, we require a minimum availability of two shifts a pay period (biweekly). We also ask for availability on one Friday a month. PRN employees are not eligible for benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Include: Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the physician and/or surgery center policy, including patient and family instruction
