    Job description

It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!

We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.

Location: Portsmouth, NH - Service Credit Union Corporate Headquarters

Compensation: Annual Salary starting at $56,016. Negotiable with experience

The Marketing Department develops strategies and solutions that drive growth, deepen member relationships, and strengthen the Service Credit Union brand across the markets and communities we serve.

The Social Media Strategist leads organic social strategy and channel management, including editorial planning, storytelling, publishing, and performance. Working with Creative Services and internal partners, the role builds an engaging social presence that reflects the credit union’s people, community impact, values, and brand.

“Members are the priority at Service Credit Union, and every role at the credit union is responsible for supporting member solutions and contributing positively to the member experience.”

Social Media Strategy & Editorial Leadership

    • Lead organic social strategy with the Digital Marketing Manager, setting priorities, content direction, goals, and testing opportunities.
    • Stay current on platform and audience trends and recommend where to focus.
    • Own a forward-looking editorial calendar balancing planned content, organizational priorities, and timely opportunities.
    • Find and develop compelling, audience-relevant stories across the credit union.
    • Evaluate social requests, recommending the best approach or declining opportunities that are not a good fit.

     Content, Publishing & Community Management

    • Partner with Creative Services, which produces most social copy and creative assets; provide channel direction and review content for social fit.
    • Create social content as needed; support periodic event capture and guide internal partners on content capture.
    • Manage day-to-day publishing across social channels, including scheduling and tagging in the social media management platform.
    • Ensure social content follows applicable regulations and Service Credit Union compliance requirements.
    • Monitor and engage with comments, direct messages, mentions, ratings, reviews, and relevant conversations; identify emerging issues, trends, and content opportunities.
    • Triage complaints and potential reputational issues, routing member-service questions and concerns to the Contact Center as needed.

     Measurement & Optimization

    • Track key organic social measures, including reach, engagement, sentiment, and audience growth.
    • Analyze what is and is not working and apply insights to future content, cadence, and strategy.
    • Provide a monthly social performance readout with results, key learnings, and next steps.

     Social Operations & Growth Initiatives

    • Own and improve the social media management platform, reporting and tagging structures, workflows and guidelines.
    • Build and manage the employee advocacy program, providing employees with approved, ready-to-share social content.

     Corporate Adherence

    • Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union policies and procedures, member financial data, personal information, and work-related events.
    • Provide quality support and maintain a professional relationship with peers, management, other staff, and members through cooperation, mutual trust, and respect.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Perform other duties as required.

     Required Knowledge and Skills

    • Experience owning or leading an organic social media program, with strong strategic and editorial judgment.
    • Strong storytelling skills and the ability to develop compelling, audience-relevant content.
    • Strong understanding of major social platforms, community management, social listening, analytics, and social media management tools.
    • Ability to write and edit social copy and create content using photography, mobile video, short-form video, graphic design, and editing tools.
    • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills, including constructive pushback and collaboration.
    • Self-directed, accountable, and adaptable; able to improve processes, learn new technologies, and responsibly use AI and other emerging tools within brand, privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in business, marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5+ years of progressively responsible social media experience, including experience owning or leading an organic social media program. Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
