This is a remote role that requires a residence in the Denver area. Candidate will report to the office twice a month on scheduled days, typically one day per week, every other week.
SGA Design Group is seeking a proactive team player to join us in Denver as an Architectural Designer. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team that provides architectural services for major brands across the country. You'll be working with other design professionals on ground-up buildings, remodels, and special projects.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Project Management & Scheduling. Effectively manages own client projects and coordinates project entitlement, code analysis, document production, permitting, and construction administration.
- Construction Document Production - Works with SGA leaders and the client to develop detailed construction documents that align with design intent and implement the assigned scope of work.
- Completes architectural sheets with attention to detail and the thoroughness necessary to make sure that marks or changes are carried through the set.
- Understands and uses prototypical drawings and details wherever possible to more efficiently complete the work.
- Communicates with SGA consultants to make sure that their deliverables are complete, accurate and delivered on time, and are cross-coordinated with architectural sheets.
- Understands project specifications and works with team members to complete specs on time and within budget.
- Quality Control – Review construction documents both during and post-production for accuracy and completeness. Identify and eliminate common errors by training and mentoring production team. Increase overall quality.
- Permitting - Works with jurisdictions and other stakeholders to acquire permits prior to the client deadline and within budget hours.
- Works with SGA team members to respond to plan review comments including code responses.
- Completes check requests, issue maps, transmittals and other administrative tasks required to keep the permitting process on track.
- Construction & Project Closeout - After the completion of construction documents, continues to manage the project through construction and project closeout.
- Communicates with contactors, consultants, and others on incomplete tasks.
- Completes revisions for changes to documents.
- Follows through with issues on projects and completes necessary tasks to close out projects.
Education: Bachelor of Architecture, Interior Design or formal program of CAD/Revit training. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: 5+ years, with volume building experience highly preferred. Previous experience in a team focused environment is valued.
Technical Skills: Experience designing and developing construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit required.
