Purpose of
the Role:
The Business Architect – BPM is accountable for the governance, development and continuous improvement of SGN's Process Management Framework and for leading the central Business Process Management (BPM) function.
The role is responsible for maintaining and governing the enterprise process framework, process taxonomy and process hierarchy, working closely with Global Process Owners and business stakeholders across the COO and Corporate Services functions to ensure processes are effectively managed, maintained and optimised.
The Business Architect – BPM will ensure that all business processes are modelled consistently using BPMN standards, comply with SGN process management principles, and support business outcomes, operational excellence and regulatory requirements.
The role
provides leadership and guidance to process owners, process analysts and business stakeholders in the application of process management disciplines.
The Business Architect – BPM is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the assigned business operating models and ensuring that business design remains aligned with organisational objectives, business architecture standards and enterprise architecture principles.
The role
supports the assessment, governance and implementation of organisational change, ensuring impacts to capability, process, information and operating model components are understood and managed effectively.
As custodian of the Business Architecture Repository, the role is responsible for governing the maintenance, accuracy and completeness of business architecture artefacts, including capabilities, value streams, processes, operating models, business services and organisational structures.
Working collaboratively with Business Architects and Enterprise Architects, the Business Architect – BPM will ensure the repository remains current and accurately reflects the organisation's operational state.
The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships across all levels of the organisation. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Business Architecture, Process Management, Business Analysis and Business Improvement and will lead the BPM team in delivering organisational objectives, business change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key
Responsibilities:
Business Process Management Governance
Own and govern the SGN Process Management Framework, standards, methodologies and supporting procedures.
Lead the central BPM function and provide direction, coaching and governance across all process management activities.
Define, maintain and continuously improve SGN's enterprise process taxonomy, framework and process hierarchy.
Ensure all processes are modelled and maintained in accordance with BPMN standards and SGN process governance requirements.
Establish governance controls to ensure process consistency, quality, traceability and compliance across the organisation.
Facilitate and chair Process Governance Forums and associated governance meetings.
Work closely with Global Process Owners to ensure accountability and ownership of business processes.
Define and monitor process management metrics, KPIs and maturity measures.
Provide assurance reviews and quality assessments of business process models and supporting documentation.
Support process owners in identifying process improvement opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Promote enterprise-wide adoption of process management disciplines, standards and best practice.
Operating Model Management
Own and maintain the integrity of operating models for assigned business areas.
Create and maintain business operating model artefacts including capabilities, value streams, organisation models, services, processes and governance structures.
Assess the impact of business and technology change on operating models.
Ensure operating model changes remain aligned with corporate strategy, transformation objectives and enterprise architecture principles.
Conduct design reviews and challenge proposed organisational and process changes where appropriate.
Collaborate with transformation, business change and technology teams to ensure coherent end-to-end business design.
Support business leaders in defining future-state target operating models and transition roadmaps.
Identify operating model risks, gaps and design inconsistencies and recommend corrective actions.
Business Architecture Repository Management
Act as custodian of the Business Architecture Knowledge Repository.
Establish governance processes to ensure repository accuracy, consistency and compliance.
Define standards for creation, maintenance and lifecycle management of business architecture artefacts.
Ensure business capabilities, value streams, processes, operating models and other architecture assets remain current and aligned.
Manage repository audits and quality reviews to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment between business, information, application and technology architecture domains.
Support business architecture reporting, analysis and decision making through effective repository management.
Business Architecture
Provide strategic business architecture guidance across transformation and change initiatives.
Develop and maintain business capability models, value streams and business architecture artefacts.
Support strategic planning, business innovation and organisational design activities.
Assess business requirements and opportunities to determine impacts across people, process, technology and information domains.
Identify opportunities for process optimisation, capability enhancement and organisational effectiveness.
Collaborate with enterprise architecture, delivery and operational teams to ensure solution alignment with business objectives.
Facilitate cross-functional business design workshops and architecture reviews.
Support the development of business cases, investment proposals and transformation roadmaps.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
Build and maintain effective relationships with senior business stakeholders across SGN.
Act as trusted advisor to business leaders on process management, business design and operating model matters.
Influence strategic and operational decision-making through effective communication and facilitation.
Ensure business stakeholders understand process governance requirements and responsibilities.
Promote collaboration across functions to support enterprise-wide process and architecture alignment.
Facilitate resolution of cross-functional process and business design issues.
Team Management / Leadership
Lead and manage the central BPM team.
Establish objectives, priorities and performance measures for team members.
Provide coaching, mentoring and professional development support.
Build organisational capability in Business Architecture and Process Management disciplines.
Manage resource planning and workload allocation across BPM activities.
Promote continuous improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing within the team.
Conduct performance reviews and support development planning activities.
Champion architecture and process management best practice across SGN.
Key
Skills:
Education:
Degree in Business, Information Systems, Management, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Professional Business Architecture qualification desirable.
BPMN certification desirable.
Lean Six Sigma qualification desirable.
TOGAF foundation or equivalent architecture qualification desirable.
Experience:
Significant experience in Business Architecture, Business Process Management or Business Transformation leadership roles.
Extensive experience developing and governing enterprise process frameworks and process repositories.
Deep understanding of BPMN standards, process governance and process improvement methodologies.
Experience developing and maintaining operating models and business architecture artefacts.
Experience working within enterprise-wide transformation programmes.
Strong understanding of Business Architecture methodologies, frameworks and tools.
Experience of repository management and architecture governance practices.
Experience influencing and managing senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
Experience leading teams and developing organisational capability.
Experience facilitating workshops, governance forums and executive-level discussions.
