Als Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer maak je deel uit van de Mechanical discipline binnen NAM en ondersteun je de productie-eenheden en projectteams bij het veilig, betrouwbaar en efficiënt opereren van onze onshore assets. Je werkt binnen multidisciplinaire Agile teams waarin samenwerking, eigenaarschap en continue verbetering centraal staan.

Wat houdt de functie in

Als Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer bied je technische ondersteuning aan de Production Units en Project Modification-teams van NAM. Je zorgt voor de integriteit, betrouwbaarheid, beschikbaarheid en prestaties van rotating equipment op onshore assets. Binnen multidisciplinaire Agile-teams werk je nauw samen met operations-, maintenance- en projectteams.

NAM biedt een technisch veelzijdige en dynamische werkomgeving met een breed scala aan installaties, technologieën en systemen voor rotating equipment. Daarbij werk je ook met mature assets, waar het maximaliseren van productie, het verlengen van de levensduur van apparatuur en het optimaliseren van prestaties essentieel zijn voor veilige, betrouwbare en kostenefficiënte operaties.

Je speelt een belangrijke rol binnen het engineeringteam en zet jouw technische expertise in om verbeterkansen te identificeren, root cause analyses uit te voeren en activiteiten op het gebied van equipment performance, onderhoud, spare parts en assetoptimalisatie te ondersteunen. Daarnaast draag je actief bij aan initiatieven die de betrouwbaarheid en beschikbaarheid van installaties verbeteren.

Je rapporteert aan de Mechanical Chapter Lead, vervult een leidende technische rol binnen je team en begeleidt junior- en medior engineers.

Wat ga je doen

• Je levert specialistische kennis van rotating equipment om de integriteit, betrouwbaarheid en prestaties van productiesystemen te waarborgen.
• Je analyseert en verhelpt problemen op het gebied van betrouwbaarheid en integriteit van rotating equipment. Daarbij maak je gebruik van de geldende standaarden, tools en processen om veilige en effectieve oplossingen te realiseren.
• Je biedt waar nodig technische ondersteuning op locatie, voert troubleshooting uit en deelt kennis met operations- en maintenance-teams.
• Je ontwikkelt en onderhoudt onderhoudsstrategieën en referentieplannen om de betrouwbaarheid van apparatuur en optimale prestaties gedurende de levenscyclus te ondersteunen.
• Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het continu verbeteren van onderhoudsplannen voor rotating equipment, condition monitoring-programma's, wijzigingsvoorstellen (Management of Change), reservedelenstrategieën en plannen voor Verouderingsbeheer.
• Je levert technische input voor productieoptimalisatiestudies, het identificeren van verbeterkansen en het verder uitwerken van optimalisatie-initiatieven.
• Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de prestatiestandaarden van rotating equipment binnen de aan jou toegewezen Production Units en ziet toe op naleving van het Technical Authority Framework en relevante engineeringstandaarden.
• Je neemt deel aan technische reviews, risicoanalyses, HAZOP-studies, Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR's) en andere assurance-activiteiten om veilige en betrouwbare operaties te ondersteunen.
• Je werkt samen met interne stakeholders en externe serviceproviders om specialistische aftermarket servicecontracten voor rotating equipment te ontwikkelen, te optimaliseren en te beheren.
• Je waarborgt de kwaliteit, nauwkeurigheid en volledigheid van disciplinespecifieke technische documentatie, equipmentgegevens en data, inclusief het beheer van SAP-masterdata.

Wat neem je mee

• Je hebt een hbo-diploma in Werktuigbouwkunde of een vergelijkbare technische richting.
• Je spreekt en schrijft zowel Nederlands als Engels goed.
• Je hebt ervaring met het ontwerp, de inbedrijfstelling, het opstarten, het beheer, het onderhoud en de conditiebewaking van rotating equipment.
• Ervaring met of kennis van actieve magnetische lagersystemen is mooi meegenomen.
• Je hebt een goede technische basis op het gebied van rotating equipment, asset integrity en reliability management, bij voorkeur binnen de olie- en gasindustrie, petrochemie of energiesector.
• Je hebt ervaring met methodieken zoals Root Cause Analysis (RCA) en Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), en weet hoe je betrouwbaarheid en beschikbaarheid van installaties kunt beoordelen en verbeteren.
• Je bent bekend met SAP en andere onderhoudsmanagementsystemen (CMMS).
• Je bent analytisch sterk, denkt oplossingsgericht en weet ook in een dynamische omgeving weloverwogen technische beslissingen te nemen.
• Je werkt gemakkelijk samen met verschillende stakeholders en weet mensen uit diverse disciplines mee te nemen in jouw ideeën en adviezen.
• Je neemt initiatief, werkt zelfstandig en weet goed prioriteiten te stellen zonder het eindresultaat uit het oog te verliezen.

Goed om te weten: Deze functie wordt onderdeel van de zelfstandige NAM Joint Venture (IJV). De geselecteerde kandidaat zal daarom op termijn overgaan van Shell naar een dienstverband bij NAM.

De beoogde overgangsdatum is 1 maart 2027.

Vanaf januari 2027 is het hoofdkantoor gevestigd in Hoogezand.

Daarnaast beschikt NAM over locaties in Anjum, Schoonebeek en Rotterdam.

Voor deze functie werk je naar verwachting 2 tot 3 dagen per week op een van deze locaties, waarvan in principe minimaal 1 dag per week in Hoogezand.

As a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, you will be part of the Mechanical discipline within NAM and support production units and project teams in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our onshore assets. You will work within multidisciplinary Agile teams where collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement are central.

What’s the role

As a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, you will provide technical support to NAM's Production Units and Project Modification teams. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, availability, and performance of rotating equipment across onshore assets. Working within multidisciplinary Agile teams, you will collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams.

NAM offers a technically diverse and dynamic work environment with a wide range of installations, technologies, and rotating equipment systems. You will also work with mature assets, where maximizing production, extending equipment life, and optimizing performance are essential for safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

You will play a key role within the engineering team, applying your technical expertise to identify improvement opportunities, perform root cause analyses, and support activities related to equipment performance, maintenance, spare parts management, and asset optimization. In addition, you will actively contribute to initiatives that improve plant reliability and availability.

You will report to the Mechanical Chapter Lead, serve as the technical lead within your team, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide specialized rotating equipment expertise to ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of production systems.
• Analyze and resolve reliability and integrity issues associated with rotating equipment, using established standards, tools, and processes to deliver safe and effective solutions.
• Provide on-site technical support when required, perform troubleshooting activities, and share knowledge with operations and maintenance teams.
• Develop and maintain maintenance strategies and reference plans to support equipment reliability and optimal lifecycle performance.
• Continuously improve rotating equipment maintenance plans, condition monitoring programs, Management of Change (MoC) proposals, spare parts strategies, and Asset Life Cycle/Obsolescence Management plans.
• Provide technical input for production optimization studies, identify improvement opportunities, and further develop optimization initiatives.
• Own the rotating equipment performance standards for assigned Production Units and ensure compliance with the Technical Authority Framework and applicable engineering standards.
• Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments, HAZOP studies, Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and other assurance activities to support safe and reliable operations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to develop, optimize, and manage specialized aftermarket service contracts for rotating equipment.
• Ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of discipline-specific technical documentation, equipment records, and data, including SAP master data management.

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree (HBO level) in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
• Good written and spoken proficiency in both Dutch and English.
• Experience with the design, commissioning, start-up, operation, maintenance, and condition monitoring of rotating equipment.
• Experience with or knowledge of active magnetic bearing systems is considered an advantage.
• Strong technical background in rotating equipment, asset integrity, and reliability management, preferably within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
• Experience with methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), with the ability to assess and improve plant reliability and availability.
• Familiarity with SAP and other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound technical decisions in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence and collaborate across multiple disciplines.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while maintaining focus on priorities and results.

Additional Information: This position will become part of the independent NAM Joint Venture (IJV). Therefore, the selected candidate will eventually transfer from Shell employment to employment with NAM.

Target transition date: 1 March 2027

From January 2027, the headquarters will be located in Hoogezand.

NAM also has locations in Anjum, Schoonebeek, and Rotterdam.

For this role, you are expected to work 2 to 3 days per week at one of these locations, including at least 1 day per week in Hoogezand.
