Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) programs to protect workers and property.
- Ensures strict adherence to OSHA Compliance standards across all operational areas to avoid violations and maintain a safe facility.
- Leads thorough incident investigations when accidents occur, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conducts regular safety audits and risk assessments to spot workplace hazards before they result in injuries.
- Designs and delivers engaging safety training sessions that equip employees with vital survival and prevention skills.
- Manages the proper distribution, use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Updates and tests emergency response planning procedures to ensure readiness for any crisis.
- Administers First Aid and CPR care when emergencies happen and maintains all related medical response supplies.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prefers a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
Experience
- Brings at least two years of hands-on experience in a safety role within a similar industry.
- Demonstrates a proven track record of lowering incident rates and improving workplace safety culture.
Knowledge/Skills
- Possesses deep knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Excels at hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
- Communicates clearly to train staff and report safety metrics to leadership.
- Holds a current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Maintains professional safety credentials such as OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holds professional designations like Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
- Speaks a second language to improve safety communication across a diverse workforce.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Walks and stands for extended periods while conducting facility inspections.
- Lifts safety equipment and supplies weighing up to fifty pounds.
- Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while touring production or warehouse floors.
- Responds to occasional emergency situations outside of standard business hours.
