Overview
Under the general supervision of the Metrology Engineer Managing, the Quality Metrology Technician II provides precision inspection and testing services for supplier initial samples in accordance with Shure quality requirements. The role evaluates components used in manufacturing, supports Supplier Quality activities, and assists the Senior Quality Metrology Technician with measurement inspections, documentation, record maintenance, and laboratory administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Conducts inspection and testing following inspection protocols or work instructions on metrology lab material submissions according to Shure quality requirements.
- Documents and archives reports and samples according to Shure requirements.
- Utilizes the metrology lab workflow management system (RFTM) to retrieve and archive all records and documentation of inspection results.
- Maintains custodial integrity of metrology lab material submissions.
- Performs basic operator functions using laboratory equipment.
- Documents work instructions and trains quality associates or inspectors as needed.
- Supports the development of metrology lab procedures through validation methods to provide data with integrity for any properly recorded submissions.
- Sets up inspection equipment and instruct Incoming Inspectors as required.
- Supports the Metrology Senior Technician to perform mechanical measuring equipment calibrations.
- Supports the calibration records database maintenance.
- Cleans and maintains metrology lab and equipment.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Technical degree in technology related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with metrology, mechanical inspection and measuring.
- Ability to use all standard mechanical inspection instruments including but not limited to microscopes, micrometers, comparators, calipers, height gages, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Desire to learn and continuously improve skills and knowledge of metrology and equipment.
- Basic knowledge of the concepts of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
