Mobile Handyperson

We are currently looking for a proactive and skilled Mobile Handyperson to join our team on the Kent County Council project, in a varied and rewarding role. A full, clean driving licence is essential, as you will work across multiple locations delivering high-quality Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance services. You will also support Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works, undertake small works projects, assist with emergency response procedures, and carry out asset verification and condition reporting. 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role, takes pride in maintaining high service standards, and can work confidently as part of a professional facilities team. The role includes participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota and reports directly to the Area Supervisor and Operations Manager.

As the Mobile Handyperson, you will:

• Bring a proactive, self-motivated and can-do approach to working within a mobile maintenance team, delivering a high standard of service across the estate.
• Carry out a range of planned maintenance and compliance tasks, including water hygiene PPMs, flushing and temperature checks, weekly fire alarm testing, and support with additional PPM and extra works in line with engineering and HASWA standards.
• Undertake general building fabric and maintenance repairs, including minor carpentry to doors, frames, windows and other timber fixtures, as well as basic plumbing, gutter clearance, flooring repairs, and the installation of shelves, noticeboards and similar fittings.
• Complete minor security and access works, including the replacement and installation of locks where required.
• Support asset verification and condition data capture, ensuring asset information is accurately recorded and maintained electronically using handheld devices.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records and support seasonal estate duties, including gritting in line with the winter plan, with flexibility to respond out of hours during adverse weather when required.

We are looking for:

• A positive and flexible approach, with a genuine willingness to learn, develop and grow within the role.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload efficiently and ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative, while proactively identifying and reporting health and safety concerns across the estate.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships.
• Basic IT capability, including experience using CAFM systems and mobile phone applications to record and manage maintenance activities.
• Relevant training or certifications, such as IPAF, PASMA and Manual Handling, would be advantageous.
