Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Forklift Technician to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forklift repair, heavy equipment maintenance, or automotive repair. This position requires a self-motivated technician who can diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electric, diesel, and LP-powered forklifts.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot engine performance issues on diesel and LP engines.
- Repair and replace components including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, sensors, controllers, wiring, and ignition systems.
- Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Perform safety inspections and ensure equipment meets OSHA and company standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of other heavy equipment as needed.
- Work independently to identify root causes and complete repairs efficiently.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts, heavy equipment, construction equipment, or automotive systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with:
- Electrical systems (12V, 24V, electrical systems)
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Diesel engines
LP (propane) engines
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service manuals.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and pressure gauges.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with brands such as Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Raymond, Cat, Mitsubishi, Komatsu, Taylor, Combilift, or similar equipment.
- Heavy equipment or automotive ASE certifications are a plus.
