Starting pay for market: $60,000-65,000/year
As a design engineer at Snap-on Equipment, you will be responsible for designing and developing automotive alignment & ADAS products. This will include Quality improvements (Rapid Continuous Improvements) to existing products.
Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements for the automotive equipment and industrial tools industry. Must be able to perform in a team environment with engineers from other disciplines and nationalities.
- Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records. Maintain an engineering notebook to document work activity in support of company’s patent goals.
- Test and validate products to assure product performance and quality.
- Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.
- Develop or modify manufacturing processes.
- Work with other groups on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and/or improve performance of designs.
- Develop an understanding of the company’s products and their applications.
- Provide administrative support for Engineering Computer systems.
- Work with outside approval agencies on initial product approvals and maintenance of existing files
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Mathematics, with a preference for 2 years’ experience in a design engineering environment
- Must be proficient in the use of the computer for design and testing. Creo experience is preferred.
- Up-to-date knowledge in mechanical design
- Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly electronics
- Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
- Must possess good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
- Must have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Project management and customer interface experience is a plus.
- Experience with outside approval agencies (UL/CSA/ALI etc.)
