About the Role
South Bay Solutions is looking for a skilled and motivated CMM Programmer to join our Quality team. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs using ZEISS CALYPSO software. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metrology, quality inspection, GD&T, and manufacturing processes, with the ability to support Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure product quality and on-time delivery.
What You'll Do
- Develop, edit, and implement CMM programs using CALYPSO software from 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Set up, validate, and prove out CMM programs to ensure accuracy and prevent machine crashes.
- Program articulating and fixed-head CMMs with minimal supervision.
- Create, modify, and maintain stylus systems for inspection requirements.
- Maintain and update CMM program libraries to support current drawing revisions.
- Collaborate with CNC Programming, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support production needs.
- Perform surface plate layout inspections using conventional measuring equipment.
- Conduct incoming, first-piece, first-article, and in-process inspections.
- Generate and review inspection reports to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Support NCR and MRB activities.
- Train operators and junior programmers on best practices and inspection techniques.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives for quality and process efficiency.
- Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3-5 years of experience programming CMMs using ZEISS CALYPSO software.
- 3-5 years of Quality Inspection experience, including surface plate layout work.
- Experience programming and operating articulating and fixed-head CMMs.
- Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5M-2009 and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards and requirements.
- Experience using quality inspection tools and documentation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and SolidWorks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong mathematical skills including geometry and trigonometry.
