Our mission to transform lives is made possible by talented people who bring diverse industry experience, backgrounds and skills to the university. And today, we're ready to expand our reach. All we need is you.

    The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Penmen Guide Co-Leader. The Penmen Guide Co-Leader supports the leadership, training, and daily operations of the Penmen Guide team. Responsibilities include coordinating schedules, recruiting and onboarding guides, facilitating meetings and training, providing coaching and feedback, supporting campus events and special visits, and serving as a communication liaison between guides and Admissions leadership. Co-Leaders help foster team engagement, maintain high-quality campus tours, and continuously improve the visitor experience.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and maintain the year-round Penmen Guide tour and office schedule, ensuring appropriate staffing and coverage.
    • Support the recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and development of new Penmen Guides.
    • Plan and facilitate bi-weekly Penmen Guide meetings, including agendas, announcements, training, and important updates.
    • Serve as a communication liaison between Penmen Guides, the Leadership Team, and Admissions staff.
    • Develop and facilitate training for new and returning guides and maintain accurate, up-to-date training materials and the Tour Guide Manual.
    • Conduct evaluation tours and provide constructive feedback to help guides strengthen their communication, public speaking, tour delivery, and professionalism.
    • Support golf cart training and safety procedures for Penmen Guides.
    • Meet regularly with the Penmen Guide Supervisor and Leadership Team to discuss operations, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Coordinate Penmen Guide staffing for Admissions events, group tours, VIP visits, and other campus visit programs.
    • Collaborate with Admissions staff and the Pro Staff Event Coordinator to support event preparation, logistics, and execution.
    • Conduct regular check-ins with Penmen Guides to provide support, gather feedback, and encourage professional growth.
    • Develop initiatives that promote team engagement, morale, collaboration, and a positive team environment.
    • Identify and implement opportunities to improve tour guide operations and enhance the campus visit experience.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at the university.
    • Minimum of one semester of experience as a Penmen Guide.
    • Demonstrated leadership, organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to serve as a positive leader, mentor, and role model.
    • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the Admissions Office and university positively.
    • Ability to manage time commitments and maintain a flexible schedule, including potential part-time availability in August for training and preparation.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively and share responsibilities with the Penmen Guide Leadership Team.
    • Valid driver's license required/preferred for responsibilities that may involve transportation or campus-related tasks.

    Learning Outcomes:

As a Penmen Guide Co-Leader, you’ll have the opportunity to develop real-world leadership, communication, event planning, and organizational skills while helping shape the experience of future Penmen. You’ll work closely with Admissions professionals and fellow student leaders to support your team and make an impact on the campus visit experience.
