QC Inspector

Position Summary

Ensure products meet established quality standards by examining and testing at various stages of the production process.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Perform dimensional checks of detail parts to ensure proper installation.

· Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.

· Measure product dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.

· Read blueprints and other materials to determine specs, inspection/testing procedures, and measuring instruments required.

· Record inspection/test data (e.g., dimensions, defects, grades, quantities).

· Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.

· Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications and Requirements

· Strong written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of shop mathematics.

· Experience in heavy structural fabrication; ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

· Ability to stand for long periods; occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift up to 50 lbs.

· Occasional bending, squatting, or crouching; frequent handling of tools/equipment/material.

· Ability to work in inclement weather (cold, heat, humidity).

Safety Requirements

· Adhere to all Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintain orderly and clean work area; attend required safety meetings.

· Inspect equipment and tools daily; use hand and power tools safely with correct guards in place.

· Wear appropriate PPE for specific tasks.
