Student Ambassador

Essential Functions:

1. Represents the college at high schools and events across the service region, which may include out-of-town travel.
2. Assists with campus tours, college-sponsored activities, and summer camps.
3. Supports recruiting and outreach activities by responding to inquiries and sharing information about programs.
4. Shares personal experiences as a current STECH student to help prospective students feel connected and informed.
5. Provides professional support at events, presentations, and other student-focused initiatives as assigned.
6. May be scheduled during regular business hours as well as some evenings or weekends, depending on events.

Environmental Factors:

Conventional Educational Environment.  In some programs, employees may occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals and the hazards associated with the respective industry equipment.

Qualifications:

To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:

1. Education: Must be a current student in good standing at Southwest Technical College.
2. Specialized Skills/Knowledge:
   1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
   2. Ability to engage positively with prospective students, families, and community members.
   3. Confidence in speaking about personal student experiences and program opportunities.
   4. Professionalism when representing the college at events and in public settings.
   5. Reliability and flexibility to support events as needed, including occasional evenings or weekends.
3. Experience: No prior experience is required; experience in leadership, public speaking, or student involvement is preferred.
4. Background Check: Must be able to pass a background check.
5. Probationary Period: Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period.
