Visalia Post Acute is seeking a dependable On-Call Dietary Cook to join our dietary team! Help make each day better for our residents by preparing nutritious, flavorful meals that support their health, comfort, and well-being.
Schedule: On-call, providing coverage as needed. Hours and shifts may vary based on facility needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
- Follow prescribed diets, food texture requirements, and resident dietary restrictions.
- Ensure meals are appealing, properly prepared, and served at appropriate temperatures.
- Record food temperatures and follow safe food handling and storage procedures.
- Prepare modified-texture foods, including pureed meals, as directed.
- Coordinate with dietary staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment and work surfaces.
- Properly label, date, and store food and assist with monitoring supplies.
- Report equipment issues, food safety concerns, and resident meal concerns to the Dietary Supervisor.
- Follow facility safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience preferred, especially in a healthcare, long-term care, or high-volume kitchen.
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special diet instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, kitchen sanitation, and safe food handling.
- Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to provide coverage for varying shifts as needed.
- Ability to perform essential job duties, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
