We are seeking an Estimator who will be responsible for preparing and managing cost estimates for various projects, ensuring accuracy, and providing insights to support decision-making. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project requirements and develop comprehensive cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project documents, including blueprints, specifications, and contract terms, to understand project requirements and scope.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project conditions and identify potential cost factors.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses, using established methodologies and estimating software.
- Identify and quantify project risks and contingencies and incorporate them into the cost estimates.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor quotes and proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to obtain accurate pricing and availability of materials and equipment.
- Develop and maintain a cost database of historical data, including labor rates, material costs, and productivity factors, to support future estimating efforts.
- Prepare cost breakdowns and reports for project stakeholders, highlighting major cost drivers, potential cost savings, and risks.
- Participate in project meetings and provide cost-related insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle, identify deviations from the original estimates, and provide timely cost updates and forecasts.
- Mentor and train junior estimators, providing guidance on estimating techniques, best practices, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an estimator or senior estimator in a construction, manufacturing, or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Familiar with project management principles and methodologies is a plus.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and other technology aided estimating programs
- Must be a critical thinker with creative problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organization and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task, work efficiently, and meet deadlines
- Ability to read and understand complex technical documents
- The ideal candidate is comfortable leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to improve operations, increase efficiencies, and automate processes.
