Job Description

Position Summary:
The Registered Practical Nurse under the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Department of Nursing functions as a member of the Women’s Health and Newborn Care Program in the 2 Fontbonne Clinic. Responsible to provide preventative educational and/or supportive care. Basic knowledge decision making and communication techniques are employed in assessing planning and implementing nursing care.
Qualifications:
•Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
•CPR certificate required
•PALS and/or NRP certificate preferred
•Breastfeeding Certificate from a recognized program preferred
•Minimum of 4 years recent nursing experience in women’s health and Newborn care and/ or pediatrics
•Preferred minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience in a high-volume outpatient clinic environment
•Phlebotomy training and experience required
•Demonstrated knowledge of the Baby Friendly Initiative as it relates to nursing practice within the clinic and hospital settings
•Ability to communicate effectively maintaining good interpersonal relationships
•Demonstrated ability to prioritize problem solve and manage workload in a fast paced high volume clinic setting
•Demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team including physicians nurses clerical staff allied health professionals and medical learners
•Experience with computers data entry and patient information system
•Must have a good attendance and work record
