Assists with the implementation and enforcement of the Nebraska Noxious Weed Control Act and the Nebraska Seed Law in the northeast counties of the state by conducting routine inspections and county evaluations to determine compliance with state laws. Counties covered include: Antelope, Blaine, Boone, Boyd, Brown, Burt, Cedar, Cherry, Colfax, Cuming, Custer, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Loup, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Rock, Stanton, Thurston, Valley, Washington, Wayne, Wheeler.Job Duties:
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in agriculture, plant/animal or natural sciences, or other program related field OR a vocation certificate in electrical, mechanical, engineering or other program related field. AND Two years’ experience working in a relevant discipline.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in conducting regulatory inspections and working with the public.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with optional flex schedule
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some overnight travel expected. Able to use computer and smart phone devices. Plant science, plant identification, or agronomy experience is preferred.
