Job Summary
The Cover Glass Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting cover glass production machinery to ensure consistent, high-quality output. This position requires strong technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to quickly identify and resolve equipment or process issues. The operator plays a key role in maintaining production flow, meeting daily performance goals, and upholding strict safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor cover glass production and finishing equipment to meet quality, safety, and efficiency targets.
- Perform technical troubleshooting on machinery and processes to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production flow.
- Adjust, calibrate, and maintain machines to ensure optimal performance and product consistency.
- Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE and actively promote a safe work culture.
- Conduct quality inspections of materials and finished products to identify defects or deviations from specifications.
- Read, interpret, and execute production orders, process instructions, and machine parameter settings.
- Utilize HMI interfaces, automation systems, and production software to control and monitor operations.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to report and resolve mechanical or automation issues.
- Assist with material handling, loading/unloading, packaging, and labeling operations as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in compliance with company 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding performance, quality, and process improvements.
- Maintain excellent attendance, flexibility to work overtime, and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Technical Certificate required.
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience operating or maintaining automated machinery.
- Experience in HMI control systems, automation, or precision manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical or process issues independently.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand complex machinery.
- Ability to diagnose and correct production issues using logical, step-by-step problem-solving methods.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, or technical documentation a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Must stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Frequent walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and manual handling of materials.
- Ability to lift, push, or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Exposure to manufacturing noise, equipment movement, and moderate temperature variations.
- Must follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
This position requires previous experience. This position starts at a range of $21-$23 per hour. M-F with some weekend OT
