Transportation Coordinator
Responsibilities
- Negotiate rates with carriers
- Manage shipments by building loads and establishing a shipping plan to ensure customers’ needs are met or exceeded
- Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments and/or receipts
- Maintain open communication and good relationships with carriers, customers and/or suppliers
- Track shipments from release of material to transportation to delivery to the customer
- Trouble shooting
- Freight invoice approval
- Meeting or exceeding department key measurements
Qualifications
- Safety Oriented
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and well organized
- Customer service passion and attitude
- Willing to go the “extra mile” for service and problem resolution
- Able to work with people from all organizational levels/backgrounds
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PC applications
Preferred:
- BS degree in Transportation Management or 5 to 7 years in transportation or the steel industry
