Overview

Job Title: Machinist 2nd Shift

Job Location: Williamsport, PA

Under general supervision, sets up and operates a limited number of standard machine tools.  Works from prints using a variety of hand and precision measuring instruments; determines machine feed speeds to perform precision machining operations on a variety of components.

Responsibilities

• Aware of and consistently follows all shop safety protocols and regulations.
• Perform raw stock order filling using horizontal and vertical band saws, abrasive cut-off machines, shears, and hand tools.
• Competently and safely uses the hoists within the department.
• Responsible for keeping cutting equipment operable by changing cut-off abrasive wheels, band saw blades, etc.
• Perform deburring parts Buffer-Tumbler-Under-Scope-Bench work.
• Performs less complete machine operations using a limited number of machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, power saws, shears, grinders, punch presses, honing machines, etc.
• Change and/or sharpen cutting tool during operations with supervision.
• Maintain tolerances using dial indicators, micrometers, pin gauges and other measuring equipment.
• Perform duties in accordance with Facilities Workmanship Standards and Aid Manual.
• Make simple setups with supervision.
• Communicate any known operation process irregularities to supervisor.
• Maintains work area and tools in a clean and orderly manner daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-4 years relevant experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic math
• Demonstrated gross and fine motor skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of precision measuring tools
• Demonstrated competence in basic math
• Able to read/understand engineering drawings
• Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
