Provide technical support to machine shop manufacturing operation. Recommend and implement processes, fixtures, tooling, machines, and methods to meet the needs of manufacturing and to support continuous improvement. Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the machine shop pertaining to machines, processes, tooling, fixturing, programming, metrology, and overall troubleshooting.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs and associated tooling for machine tools with Fanuc, Okuma OSP, and Mazatrol controllers.
- Analyze work orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, models, and design data in order to determine part features, reference points, compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and derive final part geometry.
- Evaluate and determine machine condition, capability, and requirements for obtaining necessary manufacturing processes and part specifications.
- Generates new programming code as required.
- Evaluates, improves, and troubleshoots existing programs.
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes, including determination of the most effective raw materials, establishing bills of material, and specifying routings.
- Hands-on ability to program and setup CNC lathes and mills, modify code and parameters to prove out and troubleshoot new and existing programs and production capability.
- Design and develop manufacturing processes and equipment, related fixtures, and tooling that achieve production capability, short lead times, quick change over, high quality, and low production costs.
- Supports process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
