The Stone Setting department is responsible for polishing, engraving, plating, and setting stones, demanding high dexterity, concentration, and attention to detail to ensure the quality of each piece.
The Stone Setting Quality Assurance Technician inspects finished jewelry and gemstone products to ensure they meet quality, accuracy, and workmanship standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound decision-making, and the ability to identify and address quality concerns before products are delivered to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect finished jewelry and gemstone products for quality, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
- Identify, document, and classify quality defects based on type and severity.
- Verify stone quality and match characteristics such as cut, color, clarity, and metal type.
- Inspect products for loose, damaged, misaligned, or defective components.
- Record inspection results and route products for corrective action when needed.
- Review engraving, plating, and finishing work to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain required quality and productivity performance standards.
- Train and support new team members on quality standards, inspection procedures, and best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience performing detailed visual inspections or quality-related work.
- Ability to identify defects and make consistent quality-based decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and work instructions.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to work with small components.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in jewelry manufacturing, repair, quality assurance, or gemstone inspection.
- Knowledge of jewelry setting styles, including prong, channel, gypsy, bright-cut, and pave settings.
- Knowledge of diamond and gemstone characteristics.
- Experience inspecting engraving, plating, or jewelry finishing processes.
- Previous experience training or mentoring others.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet quality and productivity goals.
