Structural Design Engineer

STV currently has openings for Structural Design Engineer in our Transportation group based in our Empire State Building office in New York, NY.  Field Locations in NYC Metro Area

We are seeking a Design Engineer – Structural/Bridge who is a proficient engineer in the field, who uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical site condition issues.  This individual will be responsible to perform design of new bridge components and/or their rehabilitations, quality assurance, mentor entry level staff.  The work will include highway bridges, railroad bridges, and transportation facilities structures in New York.

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation and seismic retrofit design, and transportation facilities.
• Participating on Design Build Projects and Pursuits
• Perform Quality Assurance on Transportation Projects
• Contract Document production, including drawings and specifications.
• Bridge load ratings using LRFR and LFD
• Review of construction phase submittals

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering,
• Master's degree is preferred
• PE is required NY is preferred
• A minimum of 5 plus years of experience
• Knowledge of New York agencies and projects:
• MTA, NYCDOT, NYSDOT, NYCDCC, Port Authority of NY
• Individual will perform design calculations, develop plan details, quantity take offs, specification writing and other technical report writing.
• Experience in analysis and design of bridges, including rehabilitation design
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Specification Writing
• Cost Estimating
• Mentoring
• Quality Assurance

Compensation Range:

$149,671.54 - $171,053.19
